Big Changes Ahead

Woodward Press dissolved in July. We had a wonderful time working with all of our clients, but over the past few years many of our founding members have moved out of state and/or moved on to other projects. Keeping the existing business model was no longer sustainable. I’ve streamlined some offerings and in the coming months I will be automating others. A few of Woodward Press’ old services – skills that aren’t in my wheelhouse – will be farmed out to trusted peers.

Woodward Press is now Detroit Specials: Author Services. The new website (this one!), complete with new features and improved author services, is on track to go live early in 2019. When it’s ready, you’ll see the name change on the Facebook page and will be able to access the new Twitter account.

Here are some of the changes coming your way:

    • You’ll be able to place orders for basic services through the site, and will be able to make payments and deposits directly from the online shop.
    • Beginner Q&A: each week, we’ll answer common (or submitted) questions about how to get started in self-publishing.
    • Resource Round-Up: self-publishing can be expensive. We’ll offer tips on keeping costs down, and will point you to quality free or low-cost resources.
    • Premade book covers will be available for sale in our online shop, with at least one new cover being added each week.
    • Improved one-on-one marketing services.
    • Subscriber-only marketing services: a curated list of reviewers, marketing DIY tips, discounts on marketing materials, and more.
